SAN MIGUEL FIESTA WATERCOLOR ON ARCHES 16" X 20"A holiday trip to San Miguel de Allende Mexico was the inspiration for this painting. This headdress was but one of the examples of exquisite costumes worn by the hundreds of fiesta participants. San Miguel is a truly magnificent historic city.

LIJMA SUNAGO MAPLE -ACRYLIC ON HARDBOARD 5" X 7"Is just one of approximately 450 varieties of maple trees. This painting can be found on my web page http://www.deraldeastman.com/ in the collection of small very affordable paintings. From time to time I will be adding other varieties of maple paintings.
Here is what has been happening: most everyday first thing in the AM I travel to the wilds of my studio to paint small very affordable paintings on hardboard, canvas or somewhat larger watercolor and/or acrylic paintings on arches paper or canvas. No inexpensive material for me! Upon completion of one of my colorful impressions I take a picture of it, and post it on my blog . To purchase a painting simply click on the buy link. You’ll be taken to Pay Pal’s secure server to complete a simple credit card transaction. You do not have to be a Pay Pal member to purchase. Upon receiving payment I will immediately send your painting to you.

Derald Eastman has been interested in art since a very young age. His sixth grade teacher recognized this and gave him encouragement. As did his high school art teacher Don Musick. His formal art training was as a student at the University of Kansas majoring in Painting/illustration. Where he was closely tutored by Jack Armstrong. Having been employed in advertising for a number of years only recently has he been able to seriously pursue his artistic interest.
He pays painstaking attention to the composition of his paintings; in particular with the use of negative and positive areas which he considers of primary importance. These days he said, ”he paints with more economical means by suggesting detail rather than rendering it.”
As a member of the Alabama art community Derald’s work has been recognized in shows and received numerous awards. In the past few years he has focused his painting primarily in acrylics as well as watercolor.
